Safe meals for the most vulnerable: 500,000 KM for public kitchens in ZDK

(Patria) - The Minister of Labor, Social Policy, and Refugees of the Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK), Antonio Šimunović, today signed agreements on the allocation of funds intended for the financing and co-financing of public kitchens from the ZDK budget for 2026.

Following the procedure based on the Public Call and meeting the conditions prescribed by the Rulebook on determining criteria for evaluation and scoring applications for the operation of public kitchens financed and co-financed from the ZDK budget, the ZDK Government, upon the proposal of the relevant ministry, made a Decision on approving funds for public kitchens in the total amount of 500,000 KM.

The funds were allocated to public kitchens operating within HO "Merhamet" RO Zenica, HO "Merhamet" RO Maglaj, "Gradska kuhinja" Grad Zenica, Association "Mladi volonteri" Visoko, and Humanitarian-Charitable Organization of the Franciscan Province of Bosna Srebrena "Kruh sv. Ante" Sarajevo.

The signed agreements define the mutual rights and obligations of the contracting parties regarding the dedicated use of the approved funds. In this way, support was provided for the operation of public kitchens that ensure meal preparation for 1,797 users.

During the meeting, the signatories expressed gratitude for the continuous support of ZDK and pointed out the challenges they face, as well as the commitment of the relevant ministry to continuously monitor the work and needs of public kitchens.
