Šibonjić: We will not allow Nikšić and his ilk to destroy our country and impoverish our people with very suspicious decisions

(Patria) - Minister of Economy of Zenica-Doboj Canton (ZDK) Samir Šibonjić addressed the public on social media today, commenting on the wrong decisions of the FBiH Government at the expense of workers, employers, and citizens.

"The Government of the Federation of BiH has made a decision to increase the minimum wage to 1,000 KM, but without reducing contributions or providing concrete relief for employers. At first glance, such a decision may seem like a step forward for workers, but the real burden of this measure falls on the shoulders of everyone - workers, employers, and citizens.

Workers, instead of a better standard, will pay higher taxes through their 'working livers'. Employers will be burdened with additional costs, which threatens job losses, company closures, or the relocation of businesses to other countries.

Ultimately, citizens will face higher prices for products and services due to the chain price increases that such measures inevitably bring.

The minimum wage should certainly be higher than 1,000 KM, as workers deserve decent living conditions. However, this can only be achieved with a significant reduction in contributions and taxes to relieve the economy and enable economic growth.

A decision made without reducing burdens creates counter-effects and jeopardizes economic stability. In this decision, you have chosen to take 381 KM + 304 KM for contributions from the worker. Why didn't you leave this amount to the workers, but instead took it for yourselves for budget consolidation?

In total, you have burdened workers and entrepreneurs by 685 KM. In the end, all of this will be paid for by our workers with their jobs, by entrepreneurs, and by citizens. Also, workers and employers rightly suspect the announced subsidies and support.

The current way of governing shows that neither the government nor the unions, which should protect workers' rights, have good intentions. Unions, instead of fighting for workers' rights, act as spokespersons for the Government, justifying hasty decisions.

The Prime Minister of the Federation of BiH is driving us into 'banana' states. From this point, we tell him that this is our country, and we fought for it, and we will not allow him and his ilk to destroy it before our eyes, and further impoverish our people with their, now obvious, very suspicious decisions.

His arrogant behavior is reprehensible. Instead of admitting his mistake and withdrawing the harmful decision, he is still insulting all of us who fought in the war and are fighting in peacetime for our country and its prosperity.

All of this is very suspicious, very suspicious! That is why we rightly ask who Prime Minister Nermin Nikšić and Minister Vojin Mijatović are working for? Because such a decision, made in such a way, raises doubts that it is a deliberate and planned act to endanger the economy of the Federation of BiH and bring it to its knees.

And what is very dangerous, and hidden behind this decision, is that Nikšić and Mijatović, through a decree passed the day before the end of the calendar year, want to cause divisions in society, primarily among Bosniaks, by evading responsibility and populistically repeating that they are in favor of increasing the minimum wage.

However, they skillfully hide that they are not giving up extra income from contributions and taxes in favor of workers, and they do this while driving expensive limousines because workers and employers have enabled them to do so. No one is more in favor of increasing the minimum and every other wage than us, but not in this way and not at the expense of workers, citizens, and employers.

We call for the urgent abolition of all restrictions and decrees that cause harm, including the non-working Sunday exclusively for traders in the Federation of BiH, which has caused millions in losses, and the current decree on the minimum wage.

The minimum wage must be higher than 1,000 KM, but only with a reduction in contributions so that workers, employers, and the entire economy can progress.

Do not play with the dignity of our workers, entrepreneurs, and citizens. Their work, effort, and existence must not be sacrificed for thoughtless decisions. People trust us - we will not let them down," Minister Šibonjić wrote in a lengthy post.
