April 6 Awards Presented to Ismail Barlov and the Medical Association BIMA in BiH

(Patria) - The recipient of the individual April 6 Award for 2025 is Ismail Barlov, silver Paralympian from Paris and gold medalist at the European Senior Championship in Portugal, while the collective April 6 Award of the City of Sarajevo was given to the Medical Association BIMA in BiH, a non-governmental organization of medical workers that provides healthcare to uninsured populations, mainly refugees/returnees across the entire country.

The awards were presented to them tonight on Sarajevo City Day at the City Hall, where a ceremonial session of the Sarajevo City Council was held.

The "Sarajevo Snowflake" Award was received by Nadija Kobilica, a gifted and successful athlete in sport climbing, and Farah Onešćuk, multiple national champion, record holder, and representative of BiH in shooting.

The humanitarian Marijo Pejić, posthumously, was awarded the "Plaque of the City of Sarajevo." The Plaque of the City of Sarajevo was also awarded to surgeon prim. dr. Branislav Kotjelnikov and anesthesiologist dr. Elma Vukotić.

The Honorary Citizen of the City of Sarajevo is political analyst and director of the Center for Regionalism from Novi Sad, Aleksandar Popov.

The "Key of the City of Sarajevo" recognition was given to the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Slovenia, Tanja Fajon, in gratitude for traditional friendship and strong support for the European path of Bosnia and Herzegovina and its capital.

Mayor of Sarajevo Predrag Puharić said that April 6 is not just a date on the calendar and City Day, but also a compass, a reminder, a promise, and a day when Sarajevo confirms its identity.

"An open, free city dedicated to solidarity, where anti-fascism is not treated as a stance but as the foundation of civilization. Sarajevo chose humanity in the 1940s and never stopped choosing it. It also chose it in the 1990s. The city that was under siege for 1,425 days did not falter. Sarajevo showed that it can be under siege but never broken, never conquered," said Puharić.
