Sensor for painless blood sugar measurement to be included in the Register

(Patria) - The Government of the Federation of BiH, at today's session in Sarajevo, considered the initiative of MP in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of FBiH Mirza Ganić for the inclusion of the drug enzalutamide for the treatment of metastatic castration-resistant prostate cancer from a special program within the List of drugs in hospital healthcare that can be used at the expense of the FBiH Solidarity Fund, on the List of drugs of this fund.

In the Government's statement, it is stated that drugs recommended through a special program, for which additional funds are secured, may also be included on the List of drugs of the Solidarity Fund. The recommended content of the special program includes drugs used exclusively upon a special recommendation of the attending physician, a specialist in a specific field, for the appropriate patient, with a precisely determined indication, method of administration, dosage, and with the stated expected required quantity of the drug and duration of therapy. The introduction of the insured person to the right to use the recommended drugs is carried out
by the Commission for Determining the Right to Use Drugs.

Current activities of the Federal Ministry of Health and the Institute for Health Insurance and Reinsurance of FBiH, as stated in the statement, are focused on the revision of the list of drugs of the Solidarity Fund. At the last meeting of the Commission for Adding and Removing Drugs from the List of Drugs of the FBiH Solidarity Fund, based on the submitted expert opinions of the subcommittee for oncological drugs, it was proposed that the drug enzalutamide capsules in a strength of 40 mg, from a special program, be included on the List of drugs of the Solidarity Fund.

The Federal Government today also commented on the conclusions of the Collegium of the Municipal Council of Kladanj, which, supporting the initiative "For a life with less pain", suggested to the competent bodies and institutions to undertake necessary activities for the procurement of sensors for painless and continuous measurement of blood sugar levels for children and adults suffering from diabetes.

The Federal Government states that, upon reviewing the list of medical devices that have a permit for trade in BiH, it was determined that this sensor is not yet on our market. For placing a medical device on the market in BiH, it is necessary for the manufacturer based in BiH or a legal entity representing a foreign manufacturer and based in our country to contact the Agency for Medicines and Medical Devices of BiH and initiate the process of registering the sensor in the Register of Medical Devices for the BiH market. Only after registration does the applicant acquire the right to place that product on the BiH market.
