Selimbegović at the campaign launch: Stari Grad has no host, Čengić spent half his term outside Sarajevo

(Patria) - The election campaign of SDA Stari Grad was officially launched tonight with a press conference at Kovači, addressed by candidate for mayor Dženan Selimbegović and the head of the SDA list for the Stari Grad Municipal Council, doc. dr. Jahja Muhasilović.



A list of 36 candidates for the Municipal Council was presented. Selimbegović began his address by referring to the work of Mayor Irfan Čengić over the past year.

- Stari Grad has no host. Mayor Čengić slept through a year of his term. We get the impression that Čengić got a job in the last election that he neither wanted nor knows how to do, so it surprises us that he is seeking it again.



The mayor spent almost half of his term visiting European and world destinations such as Dubai, London, Vienna, Istanbul, Zagreb, Belgrade, and even Chicago, and so on.

Citizens of Stari Grad gained nothing from these tourist visits by Čengić, except for high costs - said Selimbegović.

He points out that Čengić's only visible project is a children's park in the Medrese local community, which, in its first week of opening, became a monument to corruption and arrogance, as it cost a scandalous 150,000 KM instead of the planned 35,000 KM.



- Čengić's slogan "Bravely for Stari Grad" is somewhat hypocritical, as there is no great bravery in the fact that Mayor Čengić spends even the little time he has among citizens under 24-hour police escort.

Also, the fact that Mayor Čengić is driven by the police in a Toyota Land Cruiser, even during his private activities, perhaps explains why he doesn't see that his neighbors in Streljačka street have no water in their homes, or that the streets of Stari Grad are full of potholes - he emphasized.



Selimbegović continued by discussing his Program "Plan and Vision for Stari Grad," specifically highlighting projects that will provide content for the citizens of Stari Grad that they currently lack.

- Citizens of Stari Grad finally need a sports hall, and we will build it in Bistrik. Stari Grad had the first swimming pool in Sarajevo, and for over a decade, it has unfortunately served as a garbage dump.

We will renovate the swimming pools at Bentbaša, and as part of the same project, we will finally develop facilities at Dariva. We will build a stadium at Moščanica.



We will restore Baščaršija to its old spirit and bring order to it. What we will focus on is the balanced development of all local communities in our municipality, because the peripheral local communities, despite filling the budget like all citizens of Stari Grad, face elementary communal and infrastructural problems - he added.

In addition to Selimbegović, the head of the SDA list for the Stari Grad Municipal Council, doc. dr. Jahja Muhasilović, also spoke at the presentation, explaining the reasons for his candidacy and specifically referring to the Trojka coalition, whose candidate is Irfan Čengić.



- There is a phenomenon where Trojka candidates for mayor, such as Benjamina Karić, Nermin Muzur, and especially our mayor Irfan Čengić, try in every way, declaratively and through PR, to distance themselves from the treacherous policy of Trojka and their devastation of the system at all levels and in all sectors.

At the same time, Karić and Muzur are vice-presidents of SDP and NIP, and Čengić is even supported in the field by people like Konaković, Šteta, and Ramo Isak. Therefore, a vote for Čengić, as well as a vote for Karić or Muzur, is a vote for Ramo, Arnel, and Rusmir Isak, a vote for Konaković and his connections with drug cartels, a vote for the treacherous policy of Trojka - emphasized Muhasilović.



Selimbegović received support at the campaign launch from Haris Zahiragić - Vice-President of SDA, Faruk Kapidžić - President of the SDA Cantonal Board Sarajevo, Almir Bečarević - President of the SBiH Cantonal Council, Muamer Bandić - candidate for mayor of Novo Sarajevo Municipality for SBiH, DF, and SDA, and many others.
