Šehić: I can't go from room to room slapping players to make them aware of the match's importance

(Patria) - At today's press conference of the Bosnia and Herzegovina national team ahead of the match against Ukraine, the goalkeeper of our national team, Ibrahim Šehić, also addressed the media.

After Finland's defeat and the loss of all chances for a playoff, Šehić was very critical, and at the press conference, he did not want to single out any of the Dragons.

"Everyone is disappointed, sad. It's not easy to prepare the team after such a defeat. The guys are aware that we have to be serious until the end and play a good game, giving our maximum. That way, we can at least repay the people who believed in us a little. We don't have that credit to be bad on that day and allow ourselves to play with the national team's reputation. The players are aware of this, especially the younger ones who should be the backbone for the next qualifiers. They need to start taking responsibility and for one of them to be a leader, a commander on the field... That needs to start tomorrow," said Šehić, adding:

"This is a team sport. We are all guilty together for every defeat. There are no individuals. Players should handle psychological preparation themselves. I can't go from room to room slapping and hitting players to make them aware that we are playing the most important match. The coach prepared the match tactically well. The Finns wanted the victory more than us. Teams ten times weaker than us have beaten us precisely because of that approach."

The goalkeeper of our national team emphasized that the Dragons want to turn over a new leaf in the match against Ukraine on Tuesday.

"We are emotionally drained after the match against Finland. There isn't much time in our job to celebrate or mourn. We are aware that we have to play a good game. Every match for the national team is something special. I hope we will find the strength to play a good game and show that the match against Finland was just a bad day and that a new story begins with Ukraine," added our goalkeeper.

One of the journalists followed up on Šehić's words that they had a bad day against Finland and stated that they only have one win in the qualifiers, asking how many bad days they have had.

"I don't know what the definition of a bad day and a bad game is for you. You have to explain that to me. I don't think we had a bad day against France. Against Kazakhstan, ten chances, we concede a goal in the 90th minute. I personally concede a goal, a very stupid goal. Against Ukraine, we also had chances. A bad day is any day when you don't win, but we can't say those were bad games. I feel that we play much better and easier away from home. It seems we have less pressure and that some younger players play better away because they can't relax here. They have great responsibility in front of our fans. That was evident in the matches on our home turf, and some players can't cope with that," said Šehić.
