Seven-year-old Džan Kazić climbed Maglić, the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina

SARAJEVO, (Patria) -  Džan Kazić (7) was part of a group of hikers who climbed Maglić over the weekend, at 2,386 metres above sea level the highest peak in Bosnia and Herzegovina on the border with Montenegro.

"It is a route about 15.6 kilometres long. We started around 11 a.m., and we covered the section in about three and a half hours," Džan's father Adnan Kazić told the Patria News Agency.

The group of hikers was led by experienced guide Adnan Adilović from the club 'Visokogorci Sarajevo', with experience climbing the Himalayas and Mont Blanc. Due to the boy in the team, safety measures had to be at the highest level.

"Džan is full of energy, he finished the first grade of the 'Skender Kulenović' Primary School, plays football at FK Dobrinja, loves walking, swimming and skiing... and he manages to balance all of that," says Džan's father.

"I think the most important thing is to motivate children, Džan and I often talk and that helps us a lot," says Adnan.

Džan will spend the next 12 months preparing for Triglav, which at 2,863 metres is the highest peak of the former Yugoslavia.
