(Patria) - Mayor of Bihać Elvedin Sedić (POMAK) spoke today for N1 about the recent failed attempt to reconstruct the Government of the Una-Sana Canton (USK), headed by Nijaz Hušić (SDA).
- I think that from this distance in time we can already say that the attempt failed, given that nothing has happened in the last few days.
We from POMAK were not the ones leading these processes, and I think that is clear to everyone who has even a basic understanding of politics. With two, that is, with the smallest number of representatives mentioned in this whole story, we cannot be the ones who led this process.
The question should be directed towards those who proposed the mandate-holder, that is, the political option from which the mandate-holder was supposed to come - says Sedić.
And the mandate-holder, let us recall, was supposed to be Šuhret Fazlić from the People and Justice Party (NIP), whose president is Elmedin Konaković. Fazlić eventually backed out.
- I think it all started with that first attempt, when the People's European Alliance (NES) was supposed to be brought into the USK government as a kind of payback for some services at the federal level and support for the Federal Government, and perhaps for those at the state level as well.
We from POMAK already said clearly then that we should think about a premier/mandate-holder from Bihać. And at that time we absolutely did not mention any names, nor did we think it would be someone from POMAK - Sedić emphasizes.
He denied media reports that POMAK was promised the premier position in the USK government.
- No. No one promised POMAK the premier position, nor did POMAK ask for it. In that first instance, we from POMAK said it would be nice to see someone from Bihać.
And when the moment came that in some version the name of Šuhret Fazlić appeared, we said OK - that is acceptable to us. However, when more concrete talks began, it became clear that there were not enough votes for support for the mandate-holder in the person of Šuhret Fazlić.
First, the mandate-holder himself backed out, that is, he said he was not for those games of 15-16, for something to be forced through, or somewhere where he would not have secure support in the Assembly. In the end, that turned out to be the case - there were not enough votes to support such a reconstruction - Sedić points out, as reported by Patria.
He says he said from the beginning that some unresolved relations within NIP should have been decisive, and in the end it turned out that out of four NIP representatives, only two were "secure".
- However, these are not things that I, as someone from POMAK, want to comment on. These are internal matters within NIP, and I think they should have resolved them before any action - Sedić adds.
According to him, it is obvious that Konaković came to USK in vain, because "he did not first sort things out in his own yard, yet he wants to sort something out somewhere else".
- I think it is proper to first sweep in front of one's own door, and then look for room for further agreements - Sedić added.
When asked by the host why they wanted to start the reconstruction of the USK government a year before the General Elections, he reiterated that the primary goal was to return a favor for support at the federal and state levels.
- On the other hand, I believe that some preparations for the upcoming election year may also be partly the cause of some stories and speculations about the reconstruction.
However, as I already said, we are not the ones leading these political processes, whether it is about the reconstruction of the government. We do not even lead them in the current government. We do not participate at all as a party in the work of the government.
Admittedly, the Speaker of the Assembly comes from POMAK, but we are not represented in the work of the executive branch, and I think that for us specifically, nothing changes in either scenario.
But certainly, in the long run, constant changes of government definitely do not bring anything good. We deal with ourselves instead of dealing with crucial issues of importance for the lives of our fellow citizens - Sedić added.
