Seven unions in Sarajevo Canton invite the government to negotiations on salary increase from 2025 and payment of aid according to the FBiH Government Decree

(Patria) - The Coordination of Unions in Sarajevo Canton, representing over 25,000 workers in SC and comprising seven unions, held a meeting where seven conclusions were reached.

These unions are the Independent Union of Primary Education and Upbringing of FBiH - Cantonal Board SSOOiO, the Police Union of SC, the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees of SC, the Independent Union of Civil Servants and Employees in State Administration Bodies, Judiciary, and Public Institutions in FBiH, the Union of Secondary and Higher Education, Upbringing, Science, and Culture of BiH – Cantonal Board of SC, the Union of Healthcare Workers in SC, and the Independent Union of Workers in the Communal Economy.

At the meeting, it was requested that the salaries of workers paid from the SC Budget be increased by approximately 10 percent through an increase in the base for salary calculation starting January 1, 2025.

A written request was sent to the Government of Sarajevo Canton today via the Canton's protocol to open negotiations and define the base salary of 425 marks from January 1 next year, with a deadline of seven days for a response to this letter, and to commence negotiations before the draft Budget for 2025 is prepared.

Regarding the payment of aid according to the FBiH Government Decree, a written request was sent to the Government of Sarajevo Canton today to pay aid in an equal amount to all workers whose salaries are paid from the SC Budget, the Fund of the SC Health Insurance Institute, and the budget of communal economy companies in the SC.

The Coordination of Unions expects written responses to the two written requests submitted to the SC Government today via protocol within seven days.

If the Coordination of Unions does not receive responses from the Government within seven days and if an agreement is not reached, a press conference will be held next week to announce union activities.

The Coordination of Unions welcomes and supports the agreement between the SC Government and the unions representing healthcare workers, according to which the hourly wage for healthcare workers is increased to 3.40 KM, and expects the salaries of healthcare workers to be increased by approximately 10 percent starting September 1 this year.

The Coordination of Unions will support the Independent Union of Workers in the Communal Economy of SC, which will pass a resolution in the coming days demanding a salary increase for workers in the communal economy.
