SDP Mostar on Uborak: Due to the ignorance of the authorities, the problem is escalating and endangering citizens

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - GO SDP Mostar is asking the prosecution to inform the public about the activities undertaken regarding the Uborak landfill, given that it is more than clear that we are facing an ecological catastrophe.

All documents indicate that there was a brutal theft of public money, which resulted in the endangerment of people's health, and it is the duty and obligation to legally identify the responsible persons, SDP announced.

It is evident that the remnants of the local government, as well as the federal government, are not taking anything seriously to resolve this problem, which, from the perspective of the citizens' justified demands, will again lead to the blockage of the municipal waste disposal system and unforeseeable consequences.

We call on the inspection authorities to publicly announce their findings and confirm that the only correct solution is for the Uborak landfill to be officially and legally closed from 11.09.2019, because there is not a single formal or technical condition for its continued operation.

Finally, we call on the Speaker of the House of Representatives of the FBiH Parliament not to sign decisions for annual leave but to convene a thematic session on the situation at Uborak, for which all procedural conditions have been met, because Mostar does not have time to wait 45 days in the current circumstances.

The Federal Parliament, due to the fact that it is adopting the budget, is most responsible to the eternal mayor to determine the order of actions, the method of financing, and the responsible people for the closure, remediation of the existing, and the new landfill location in the coming period.
