SDP criticises ruling SDA: Sarajevo Canton against the City of Sarajevo

On Wednesday, 2 September, at the session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly, something occurred that is only possible in totalitarian, anti-democratic, chaotic environments and arrogantly privatised political systems and practices.

Deputies of the ruling SDA and its henchmen voted for a decision to prevent the Mayor of the City of Sarajevo, Ivo Komšić, from addressing the session of the Sarajevo Canton Assembly under the agenda item concerning the budget revision, thereby refusing to inform both themselves and the public about the problems and demands of the City of Sarajevo regarding the obligations of the Sarajevo Canton in this regard, reports the Patria news agency.

-In addition to the rejected request of the Mayor of Sarajevo, the ruling majority from the deputy benches prevented representatives of the Union of Primary, Secondary and Higher Education, as well as representatives of the Union of Civil Service Employees, from addressing the Assembly session. With such a decision, the cantonal deputies publicly ridiculed elementary democratic culture, the Constitution of the state to which they falsely swear allegiance, and their own sworn oath to protect the Constitution of the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Sarajevo Canton.

Once again, it became evident that all such a consciousness can protect are solely the party-clique, personal, servile, and, in political behaviour, increasingly anti-Bosnian, anti-democratic, and ideological interests of the SDA and their partners.

With this shameful act of banning the mayor of the capital of their own state from speaking in the assembly hall, the deputies of the SDA and all deputies not only show how little they respect the Decision of the Constitutional Court of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina regarding the violation of the rights of the City of Sarajevo by the Sarajevo Canton, but through a crude demonstration of force at any cost, they publicly announce how much the SDA, with its political and ideological allies, is against the elementary principles of democracy and freedom, how brazenly it destroys the Sarajevo Canton and the lives of its citizens, how it disparages our capital city, and how systematically and continuously it regresses, humiliates, impoverishes, embitters both the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Bosnian society as a whole, it was stated by the SDP BiH.
