SDP BiH Forms Fund to Help During COVID-19 Pandemic

(Patria) - In response to the new situation caused by the COVID-19 coronavirus, the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina has formed a Fund to help during the current pandemic.

We are witnessing that Bosnia and Herzegovina is today faced with a challenge that has pushed all the already enormous problems we have with the functioning of the state and authorities into the background. This has necessitated setting aside all political games and disputes for another time, and for each of us to try to make the greatest possible contribution to stopping the pandemic and curbing the spread of the virus.

The greatest prevention is for citizens to refrain from going out, while on the other hand, we have medical workers, truck drivers, traders, food producers, and all those who have some kind of work obligation. Also, there are our fellow citizens who are in a state of social need, users of public kitchens, the elderly and infirm.

Members of the SDP BiH must show empathy towards these people and show solidarity to ease their work, or rather, to help those who need help the most.

Therefore, the SDP has called on its parliamentarians, representatives, councilors, aldermen, mayors, city mayors, directors of public enterprises, and party leadership to give up a part of their salary for the next three months and to pay that amount into a donor account at the SDP.

The SDP BiH will promptly inform the public and members about the collected funds and to whom they have been paid through press releases. After the donor payments are made, the SDP will, within the next few days, provide assistance to those who need it most, and this activity will be carried out every month as long as the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic lasts.

Finally, the SDP once again calls on all citizens to respect the instructions of the crisis headquarters, especially when it comes to prevention and self-isolation measures, because by doing so, citizens protect their own health, and then the health of everyone else.
