SARAJevo, (Patria) - Regarding the agreement between Bakir Izetbegović, Milorad Dodik, and Dragan Čović on the distribution of the IMF loan of 330 million euros, the Social Democratic Party of Bosnia and Herzegovina calls on the three party presidents to refrain from exposing citizens to their usual political charades and pointless dramatization of an already difficult situation, at least during this general crisis.
"Given that this is a performance that citizens have witnessed many times before, no one is actually surprised by the agreement. On the contrary, the entire public knew that the whole scenario was part of a deal, and that at the end of yet another 'arduous negotiation,' this troika would 'delight' the citizens with a new debt agreement. We all knew the outcome, even when the populist bickering between the three parties was at its peak, posing the greatest social threat after the war. The usual platitudes about protecting each other's and the third party's interests were not absent, even though all three are close coalition partners of decades," reads the SDP BiH statement.
SDP BiH expresses its disagreement and protest against the actions of the meeting organizers, who, by convening the three party presidents, formally recognize and affirm the principles of partyocracy and ethnocracy.
"Through their actions, the representatives of the EU have once again capitulated by agreeing to the imposed logic of parasystemic action, instead of strengthening the state and its institutions with their actions, especially at such a critical moment. This is a concept that is contrary to the fundamental European democratic principles and the constitutional structure of our country. Our state is not and cannot be a consociation managed by three ethnic chieftains, but a unified, sovereign state with lower administrative units, as defined by the Constitution," state SDP BiH.
Instead of the three informal leaders of the 'ethnic delegations,' they add, state representatives, members of the Presidency, entity prime ministers, ministers, and possibly parliamentary speakers who have formal authority to negotiate on behalf of the state and its administrative units should have been invited to the negotiations.
"Finally, yesterday's meeting has one positive aspect, besides securing funds to combat the negative consequences of the COVID-19 virus. Namely, this meeting once again confirmed how mere extras and executors of the will of their ethnic representative leaders are the members of the self-proclaimed national delegations on all sides. And while the members of the so-called HNS and SNSD coalition partners have long accepted the roles of extras and the crumbs left to them, it is clear that the situation is exactly the same in the 'Bosniak delegation.' Today, it is clear that there is no place for DF and SBB in the starting lineup of the 'Bosniak delegation,' and they are apparently content with 'warming the bench' as long as the bench consists of a few comfortable chairs. The representatives of the international community, besides the citizens, are clearly aware of this, as they did not even consider asking these parties - the political ornaments of the ruling troika - about anything. Unfortunately, by doing so, the representatives of the international community not only showed them their place but also humiliated the state of Bosnia and Herzegovina, its institutions, and all citizens," reads the statement of the Social Democratic Party of BiH.
