SDA: FBiH Government Must Urgently Help BHRT and Prevent Shutdown

(Patria) - Due to the ignorant attitude of the state authorities towards the increasingly evident financial collapse of BHRT, the FBiH Government is obliged to react urgently and provide funds to prevent the blocking of accounts of the state public service, stated the Party of Democratic Action in a press release.

"We call on the federal government to urgently find a model of assistance by which BHRT would survive until the final collection of court claims from RTRS. Given that the federal government plans to indebt citizens by another 2.3 billion KM this year, allocating the money needed to save BHRT should not be in question," SDA stated.

They added: "BHRT is not an ordinary media outlet but an institution of state importance. Its normal functioning is important for the protection of public interest and the stability of the state, and the financial sustainability of the public RTV system is also one of the conditions on Bosnia and Herzegovina's European path".

"If the ruling coalition at the state level does not want to offer a solution, then it is the obligation of the patriotic part of that coalition to urgently take concrete measures through the FBiH Government for the financial stabilization of BHRT.

SDA will continue to insist on the adoption of amendments to the Law on the Public Radio-Television Service of BiH, which would enable the financing of this institution from the state budget, thus systematically and permanently resolving the issue of its financing," concluded SDA.
