SDA submits Draft Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest for procedure

(Patria) - The head of the caucus of the Party of Democratic Action (SDA) in the House of Representatives of the Parliamentary Assembly of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Šerif Špago, today submitted the Draft Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in BiH institutions for procedure.

The adoption of the Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest in BiH institutions is one of the two remaining conditions that the European Union has set for BiH in order for the European Council to make a decision on opening negotiations at its session scheduled for March 21.

Taking into account the need to fulfill these obligations as soon as possible and the inertia of the representatives of the ruling coalition, whose announced deadlines for resolving this issue have long expired, Špago requested that this Proposal be considered under an urgent procedure.

This is a legal solution in the drafting of which Transparency International, OSCE, and the Delegation of the European Union to BiH participated, and which is fully aligned with European standards.

"Considering the importance of adopting the new Law on Prevention of Conflict of Interest as a prerequisite for making a decision on opening negotiations with BiH, we call on parliamentary parties to support the adoption of this Proposal at the first next session of the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament," the SDA announced.
