SDA Stari Grad: It is unacceptable to endanger the safety of elected officials, especially their families and family homes

(Patria) - A bomb thrown at the family home of the Mayor of Stari Grad Sarajevo Municipality, Irfan Čengić, this morning, and a few days ago near the home of councilor Vedad Deljković, unfortunately, this is just another indicator of the unsafe environment in which the citizens of Stari Grad and KS live.

Throwing bombs, setting cars on fire, and other ways of endangering safety and spreading fear have become commonplace in Sarajevo Canton, announced the Municipal Board of SDA Stari Grad Sarajevo.

Bomb thrown at Irfan Čengić's house

(Patria) - Throwing a bomb at the house where my family and I live will not discourage me from continuing the processes we promised to the people, said the Mayor of Stari Grad, Irfan Čengić, after a bomb was thrown at his house last night.

"The political environment in Stari Grad, which we have been warning about for the last ten years as the only opposition in Stari Grad, has long been worrying, and our councilors have repeatedly been subjected to attacks and threats simply because of their discussions or initiatives, so we fully understand the mayor's position and strongly condemn this attack regardless of its motive or cause.

The NIP's shifting of this incident to the previous government is simply unfair and hypocritical, because they were precisely the previous government, meaning the Trojka stood by Mayor Hadžibajrić and all his 'methods' of governing Stari Grad until his arrest.

In any case, we insist that the police and judicial authorities identify the perpetrators and their motives for committing this criminal offense as soon as possible, and adequately sanction them," stated the Municipal Board of SDA Stari Grad Sarajevo.
