SDA: Mostar is not the city of any one man, nor of any one people

(Patria) - Mostar is not the city of any one man, nor of any one people, the Mostar City Organisation of the SDA titled its statement today.

"A waqf is usually defined as the exclusion of property by the will of a person from his ownership and its dedication to certain goals. Unfortunately, the Mayor of Mostar has still not learned this (or does not want to know) that when he denies the institution of the waqf - he insults the religious feelings of the Muslim population of Mostar, which is particularly sensitive in environments such as Mostar truly is.

Mostar is not the city of any one people, nor of any one man, so we call on the mayor to express his personal views through his private communication channels, and not to abuse the City's communication channels for these purposes.

The Central Zone was established by the OHR, as a unifying space, for all citizens, ethnicities, and confessions of Mostar. As we have repeated several times, the central zone is a benchmark of how someone sees Mostar, whether as a united or divided city, whether as a city of equals or a city of hegemony of one people.

If there is room in the central zone for only one people, the message is clear to us. We did not agree to that message in the most difficult period of 1993, and we do not plan to do so today.

Unfortunately, we are witnessing the complete disinterest of the creators of that 'central zone' - the international community - in the problems in Mostar, and given their very loud silence, we consider them accomplices in the project of hegemony being carried out in Mostar by the HDZ. Silence has always been a sign of approval.

Everything currently being built in the central zone is completely illegal, and will certainly be the subject of an investigation or some POSKOK or other investigative bodies. If what we claim were not true, the mayor would have long ago shown those documents to the public and resolved the dilemmas.

When you hide something, you have a reason for doing so, perhaps out of fear of the court of public opinion, and more likely out of fear of investigative bodies.

We call on the Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina to, as announced by the Mostar Mufti's Office, make decisions that are within their competence, decisions that are expected of them, decisions that would to some extent establish political and national balance in the Central Zone of the City of Mostar," they said from SDA Mostar.
