SDA and Haris Silajdžić Request Marinković Lepić to Include the Draft Law on 'Southern Interconnection' on the Next Session's Agenda

(Patria) - The Club of Delegates of the Party of Democratic Action in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has sent a request to the Chairperson Mirjana Marinković Lepić to include the Draft Law on the “Southern Interconnection” gas pipeline between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia on the agenda of the 10th regular session scheduled for March 4.

The SDA requests that the law be considered under an urgent procedure and reminds that the Draft of the said law was adopted in the previous convocation of the House of Representatives of the FBiH, which served as the basis for the proposed legal solution.

At the session of the Legislative-Legal Committee of the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation held on February 15 this year, the Draft Law on the “Southern Interconnection” received a positive opinion from that committee. The Government of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina has a 30-day deadline from the submission to provide its opinion.

In addition to the SDA Delegates' Club, a request for the inclusion of the Draft Law on the “Southern Interconnection” gas pipeline was also submitted by Haris Silajdžić, a delegate of the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Silajdžić stated that this legislative proposal had previously passed the procedure in the House of Representatives and that, due to its importance, it should be included on the first upcoming session, which is the 10th regular session scheduled for March 4.

We remind you that the mentioned legal solution is being blocked by the Croatian Democratic Union, which is trying to secure that the law provides for the creation of a new company that would be the bearer of the “Southern Interconnection” project with its headquarters in Herzegovina. The HDZ has the support of official Zagreb in this, which provoked a sharp reaction from the United States of America.

Thus, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken warned the heads of diplomacy of BiH and Croatia about this problem and called on them to calm Dragan Čović and unblock this project.
