(Patria) - A two-day session of the European People's Party "EPP EU-Enlargement Study Visit & Conference: EPP Family in the Western Balkan Region" began today in Sarajevo, with one of the participants being the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina in resignation, Christian Schmidt. Political officials from across Europe and the Western Balkan countries have arrived in the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
As announced by the OHR, Schmidt stated that the future of the Western Balkans lies in the European Union.
"Bosnia and Herzegovina belongs to that future. The European path remains the most effective framework for strengthening stability, prosperity, democratic governance, and regional cooperation. The reforms that need to be implemented are well known. The path to be taken is also known. It is time to move from discussions to concrete activities and seize the opportunities that the European integration process offers to all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina," concluded High Representative Schmidt.
Schmidt said it is regrettable that political institutions in Bosnia and Herzegovina have not found a way to respond to the desire of all citizens to accelerate the European integration process.
"This is dangerous, and appropriate steps need to be taken without delay before the upcoming elections," emphasized High Representative Schmidt.
