(Patria) - High Representative Christian Schmidt, during his participation at the Munich Security Conference, highlighted the key importance of Bosnia and Herzegovina's reform engagement with the European Union.
High Representative Schmidt emphasized that BiH must prioritize efforts towards Euro-Atlantic integration in order to strengthen stability, security and progress both in the country and in the region.
Schmidt took part in a discussion on advancing reform processes in Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this context, he also met with foreign ministers of EU member states and transatlantic partners, senior officials of the EU and NATO, Commander of Allied Joint Force Command Naples Admiral Stuart B. Munsch, and the United Kingdom's Special Envoy for the Western Balkans, Sir Stuart Peach.
"Engagement focused on Euro-Atlantic integration is of key importance for the future of Bosnia and Herzegovina," said High Representative Schmidt. "It is essential for BiH to actively implement reforms and strengthen its ties with the EU in order to ensure stability and prosperity for its citizens," he added.
Schmidt stressed that ensuring the integrity of elections is essential for creating a stable and secure political environment conducive to the further development and progress of the country.
"The integrity of elections is a fundamental factor in building trust in the political system. This needs to be realized soon so that the improved rules can already be applied during the holding of municipal elections in October 2024," concluded High Representative Schmidt.
