(Patria) - In light of media reports that certain associations are privileged in the distribution of Sarajevo Canton public funds, the Party for Bosnia and Herzegovina (SBiH) Srebrenica believes this is a case of classic political corruption, aimed at using funds allegedly intended to help returnees to buy votes in the upcoming local elections.
"Assistance to returnees should be provided through official institutions, not delegated to associations founded by local NiP politicians," states the reaction of SBiH Srebrenica.
They further ask why the Sarajevo Canton Government does not help co-finance the purchase of apartments for young returnees in their places of return, as it does for young married couples in KS?
"Why don't the executive authorities make an effort so that the children of returnees do not pay more for student dormitories? Their only sin is having an ID card from Srebrenica or another place of return. They cannot because money is being spent recklessly on party associations and their 'projects'. And most sadly, information from the field suggests that this is not an isolated case, but that the association Argentarija has acted similarly before.
Therefore, the recently adopted Law on Assistance to Srebrenica does not inspire hope that it will be used for concrete assistance to returnees, but exclusively to make NiP and SDP visible political subjects in the RS, which they currently are not, especially in the region of Eastern Bosnia," states the reaction of SBiH Srebrenica, calling on the competent prosecutor's office of Sarajevo Canton to promptly react within its jurisdiction and put an end to the obvious corruption.
