SBB welcomes today's final verdict of the International Criminal Tribunal for the former Yugoslavia, which almost fully confirmed the first-instance verdict against the leaders of the so-called Herceg-Bosna and HVO officers. A total of 111 years of imprisonment for Jadranko Prlić and the others represents a strong condemnation of crimes committed against Bosniaks of Herzegovina and central Bosnia, but also the final confirmation of the character of the war in Bosnia and Herzegovina.
This verdict confirmed that our country was a victim of aggression, that the activities of para-state entities constituted a rebellion against the legal and legitimate authorities of the Republic of BiH, and that numerous and heinous crimes were committed against the civilian population, mostly Bosniaks, in pursuit of such goals.
SBB calls on all citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina to accept and acknowledge the verdicts of the Hague Tribunal, which is not only a United Nations court but also a judicial body representing the highest standards of Western civilization. A sober confrontation with the adjudicated facts of such a tribunal is a prerequisite for Bosnia and Herzegovina's accession to the Western family of states, including full membership in the European Union and NATO.
After the first-instance verdict against war criminal Ratko Mladić and today's second-instance verdict against Prlić and others, it has once again been judicially verified that Bosniaks were the greatest victims of the past war.
