Savo Minić Resigns Again, But Karan Will Propose Him as Mandate Holder

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Republika Srpska Savo Minić has again resigned from the position of Prime Minister of RS.

"We will elect a new Government again, I am resigning. We are showing political strength, seriousness, and power," Minić said, emphasizing that this is just a formal part, which is not pleasant for him to do.

Minić said that he decided on this move to ensure the legality and legitimacy of this government, as there are challenges from the international community.

He added that he consulted with the President of Republika Srpska, Siniša Karan, who said that he would propose him as mandate holder and that the Government in its current composition has support.

"I have also spoken with representatives of the political parties that form the government and I have received support. Those who do not wish well to RS are challenging the legality of the Government of RS. This is just a message that nothing can stop us. All the ambassadors who have visited me say that the Government of RS is questionable, something is still being challenged. I decided on this move, this will be a formal part and all of this is not pleasant for me, but this is a necessary move. With this, we have nullified all talk about the institutional crisis of RS," Minić said.

This is Savo Minić's second resignation. The first time it was controversial because Milorad Dodik appointed a mandate holder, even though his mandate as President of RS had already been revoked. The Constitutional Court of BiH declared that Government unconstitutional. Now, it is controversial that the acting President of RS, Ana Trišić Babić, appointed Minić as mandate holder because, according to the Constitution, there is no acting President of RS. Representatives of SDA and DF in the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliament have requested an assessment of the constitutionality of that Government of RS as well.

In order to potentially avoid the problem of unconstitutionality, the authorities in RS have decided on a new appointment of the Government of RS.
