(Patria) - Saudi Arabia has told Muslims from other countries around the world who planned to perform the pilgrimage - Hajj, to wait until a clearer picture emerges of the development of the coronavirus pandemic.
Around 2.5 million pilgrims attend the Hajj ritual in Mecca and Medina every year, which lasts for a week, and is a religious obligation for every Muslim who is able and has the opportunity to perform it, while for Saudi Arabia it represents one of the most significant sources of income.
Saudi Arabia introduced special measures in early March to protect the two mosques in Mecca and Medina from the epidemic.
