(Patria) - A meeting of the secretariat of the Committee for the Reconstruction and Revitalization of the Partisan Cemetery in Mostar will be held in Mostar at 11 AM.
As announced by the organizers, the meeting will discuss the condition of the Partisan Cemetery and measures for its reconstruction and protection, and conclusions for future action will be made.
After the meeting, statements for the media representatives will be held around 12:30 PM.
The Partisan Memorial Cemetery in Mostar is a protected national monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina and is among the most valuable monuments of that era in the entire former country.
It was opened by Josip Broz himself on September 25, 1965, on the occasion of the twentieth anniversary of the liberation of Mostar from fascism and on the day of the formation of the Mostar Battalion.
After the last war, the monument has undergone constant devastation and has become a playground for political bickering and multiple announcements of reconstruction and rehabilitation. The monument was partially renovated in 2008 with a donation from the Norwegian Government.
