Sarajevo residents mark European Car-Free Day by cycling

The Bosnian-Herzegovinian Auto-Moto Club (BIHAMK) is organizing a recreational bicycle ride on Tuesday, September 22, from 5 PM to 8 PM, marking European Car-Free Day.

- European Car-Free Day is celebrated every year on September 22 by closing parts of the city to cars, aiming to highlight the importance of environmental protection to citizens and encourage them to walk, cycle, or use public transport - BIHAMK stated.

They have chosen BK TREK Team Sarajevo as a partner for this event. BIHAMK has also received approval for traffic suspension (except for public transport) on the route from Vijećnica to Predsjedništvo and Skenderija.

The event plan is as follows:

1. Gathering and registration from 5 PM to 5:30 PM in front of the Eternal Flame - all participants will receive a gift t-shirt with the event logo.
2. From 5:30 PM to 6 PM, a Critical Mass-style bicycle ride, one after another, from Predsjedništvo, Skenderija, Vijećnica back to the Eternal Flame.
3. From 6 PM to 7 PM, a workshop for children - skill and imagination competitions, traffic police education on basics, distribution of flyers about cycling, traffic regulations and rules, and for adults, socializing with tasting of sponsor products provided by BIHAMK.
4. From 7 PM to 7:30 PM, a new joint lap for all participants on bicycles in the city center, during which a commission will review children's work and select the top 3.
5. From 7:30 PM to 8 PM, announcement of the best works, award ceremony for the most successful children, and closing of the event.

- We invite everyone to come with friends, family with children, let's show how aware we are of city and environmental pollution, and let's support bicycles and alternative means of transport. This is a new opportunity to show once again how many cyclists there are and to encourage all those who would like to cycle but are afraid to do so, to use it daily as a means of transport - stated TREK Team.
