Sarajevo's SDA proposed Bakir Izetbegović as candidate for BiH Presidency member

(Patria) - The Cantonal Organization of SDA Sarajevo has proposed the president of SDA, Bakir Izetbegović, as a candidate for the Bosniak member of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the General Elections in 2026.

The decision was unanimously made by the Executive Board of KO SDA Sarajevo at a session held on May 7, 2026.

The proposal of the Cantonal Organization was preceded by unanimous candidacies from all municipal organizations of SDA from the Sarajevo Canton area.

The official decision of the SDA bodies should be known by the end of next week, and it is certain that Izetbegović will be the only proposed candidate, according to information coming from the municipal organizations of SDA so far.

Izetbegović turns 70 this year, specifically on June 28.
