Sarajevo: Verdi's “La Traviata” at the National Theatre

On Tuesday, 22 September, the National Theatre Sarajevo will treat all opera lovers to a performance of Giuseppe Verdi's opera “La Traviata”, directed by Ognian Draganoff, under the baton of Andrija Pavlič, a guest from Austria, with the accompaniment of the Sarajevo Philharmonic, the NPS ballet, choir and soloists of the NPS Opera, reports the Patria news agency.

The main role will be performed by Aida Čorbadžić. The performance begins at 7:30 PM.

La Traviata is an opera in three acts by Giuseppe Verdi. The libretto was written by Francesco Maria Piave based on the play by Alexandre Dumas fils, which he himself adapted from his novel The Lady of the Camellias (1852). Verdi's opera premiered on 6 March 1853 at the La Fenice opera house in Venice.

La Traviata is an intimate Verdi work that deals with eternal themes of love, social hypocrisy, sacrifice and redemption. It is also an attack on the petty-bourgeois mentality, showing that the social differences separating high society from the demimonde are hypocritical, and that ultimately the heart matters, and love triumphs in the end.

Tickets can be purchased at the NPS box office or reserved via the link http://nps.ba/Program.aspx?id=64&lang=BS, the National Theatre announced.
