Sarajevo: Residents of Nahorevska Street no longer fear landslides

In Nahorevska Street between numbers 115 and 125, the Sarajevo local community Pionirska dolina-Nahorevo, as part of landslide remediation, has completed the construction of four reinforced concrete walls ranging in length from 14 to 20 meters, reports the Patria news agency.

This has eliminated the danger posed by the landslide that was activated during last year's heavy May rainfall and became a threat to nearby residential buildings and the local road. The landslide remediation project, led by the Sarajevo Canton Construction Institute, was financed by the Centar Sarajevo Municipality in the amount of 70,600 KM.

On this occasion, drainage pipes were installed for the discharge of groundwater that caused the soil slippage, and at the end of the works, the project planned the asphalting of one hundred meters of the local road, which was also damaged.

Residents of the surrounding residential buildings are satisfied with the implementation of this project, which, as they stated, will improve the quality of life in this area.

The main project for landslide remediation was done by experts from the Institute for Geotechnics and Geology of the Faculty of Civil Engineering in Sarajevo.

The Canton Construction Institute, as the implementer and supervisor of the project, carried out the complete procedure for selecting the contractor, in this case the company „Mibral“, and obtained the necessary approvals for the start of the project implementation. Geodetic surveys were performed by the company „Geoprof“ d.o.o. Sarajevo, investigative works on the land were done by the company „Winner Project“ d.o.o. Sarajevo, and geomechanical testing of soil samples was entrusted to the company „Geolab“ from Sarajevo, announced the Centar Municipality.
