SARAJEVO, (Patria) - The Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton has completed the tender documentation necessary for the procurement of 25 new trolleybuses, which has been submitted to the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD).
In the coming days, the tender will be published on their website, and the entire procedure for selecting the manufacturer will be led by experts from this bank, the Press Service of the Sarajevo Canton announced.
This is the largest procurement of vehicles since the war, carried out by the Government of Sarajevo Canton and the Ministry of Transport of Sarajevo Canton in cooperation with the EBRD.
The total amount of the planned procurement is 15 million euros.
The 25 new low-floor trolleybuses of the latest generation will be equipped with advanced fare collection systems, passenger counting systems, access for persons with disabilities, sophisticated and separate air conditioning and heating of the passenger compartment, LED lighting, and increased comfort for passengers boarding and alighting from the vehicle.
The trolleybuses will be fitted with state-of-the-art electrical equipment and will be built according to current European standards and norms. They will be powered by environmentally friendly motors that require minimal maintenance, are very reliable, and have a long service life.
Each of them will have a battery, which allows movement without grid power for at least 10 kilometres, which is an excellent prerequisite for expanding trolleybus lines.
In addition to improving passenger transport comfort, the procurement of these vehicles significantly reduces carbon monoxide emissions, as the vehicles will be 100 percent electrically powered.
The vehicles will also be equipped with a passenger information system, consisting of displays and speakers in the passenger compartment, which will announce upcoming stops on the vehicle's route and provide other notifications. All displays are equipped with LEDs and will be easily visible.
Inside, LCD monitors with the ability to display video content will also be installed. Cameras for video surveillance will be placed in the passenger compartment and driver's cabin, with the possibility of subsequent review of video recordings, which is a significant contribution to passenger safety.
The passenger seats will be ergonomic, made of materials that require minimal maintenance.
The trolleybus will be very pleasant to ride as it will have good suspension and produce very little noise both inside the passenger compartment and outside.
The trolleybuses will be under a full five-year warranty, which includes complete servicing during that period.
The first test trolleybus will appear on the streets within eight months of the contract signing.
Each subsequent month, three new trolleybuses will be delivered. The complete delivery will be completed within 16 months.
