Sarajevo again host of the 2030 Winter Olympics?

SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Three cities have expressed their desire to host the 2030 Winter Olympic Games, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) announced, reports AFP.

Octavian Morariu, head of the IOC Evaluation Commission, confirmed that Salt Lake City (United States), Sapporo (Japan), and Barcelona (Spain) have officially announced their interest in hosting the Games. 

Two of the three potential hosts have already hosted the Winter Olympics, Salt Lake City in 2002 and Sapporo in 1972. Barcelona hosted the Summer Games in 1992, and this time it would organize the Winter Olympics in cooperation with Andorra, where skiing competitions would be held.

What is particularly interesting to us, and what the AFP agency announced, citing its sources, is the information that ski jumping competitions, in case Barcelona gets to host the Winter Olympics, would be organized in Sarajevo!

This would bring the world's biggest sporting event back to the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which hosted the most successful Winter Games to date in 1984.

According to recently introduced IOC rules, host cities have greater flexibility in organizing the Games and have support in using existing infrastructure to reduce costs.
