Sarajevo wins the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup

ŠIROKI BRIJEG, (Patria) - Footballers of Sarajevo are the winners of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup for the 2018/2019 season. Husref Musemić's team was defeated today in the return leg of the Cup final against Široki Brijeg by a minimal 1:0. The Bordeaux club won the first match, seven days ago, 3:0 at their stadium, and with an aggregate score of 3:1 they won the title of winner of the most popular football competition in BiH. FK Sarajevo did not have the support of their fans today, while the home fans caused incidents by whistling during the BiH anthem, insulting the referee and the guests.

The home team entered the match much better and dominated throughout all 90 minutes, Sarajevo barely created a serious chance, but that did not help the team from Pecara to overcome the big deficit from Koševo.

It was the fourth minute when Marković shot, and Kovačević saved with great difficulty. Ten minutes later Ćorluka headed the ball, but the Sarajevo goalkeeper was in position. In the 17th minute Široki Brijeg was close to a goal. Enin shot, Kovačević was beaten, but the ball hit the crossbar instead of the net.

It was the 23rd minute when the home team took the lead. Bagarić went one-on-one with Kovačević and shot, the Sarajevo goalkeeper reacted poorly and the ball ended up in the net. Until the end of the first half, Bagarić missed two more chances for the home team, but there was no change in the score.

Bagarić had another chance in the 48th minute, but Kovačević again made a good save. In the 55th minute Ćorluka shot well, Kovačević was beaten, but the ball hit the crossbar.

Sarajevo finished the match with one player less, as Numan Kurdić received a straight red card in the 72nd minute after a harsh tackle.

For Sarajevo, this was the sixth title of winner of the Bosnia and Herzegovina Cup. Sarajevo received 30,000 KM from the Football Association of BiH, while Široki Brijeg was awarded 20,000 KM.
