SARAJevo, (Patria) - In an article published on the official website of National Geographic Travel magazine, alongside Budapest and Zagreb, Sarajevo was included in the list of destinations that this world's largest travel magazine believes should be visited because they offer something new, exciting, and undiscovered.
Stating the reasons why Sarajevo ranks at the top of the choices for European destinations, it is highlighted that it is a city where old and new, Olympic and war intertwine, and at the same time a place rich in cultural events and opportunities for entertainment, good food, and drink. Precisely because of this unique blend of seemingly incompatible contrasts, Sarajevo has taken the top spot on the list of European destinations recommended by this prestigious magazine.
After a two-day stay in Sarajevo, the authors of the article recommend numerous interesting locations. Thus, as the first, they highlight the Latin Bridge and the site of the assassination of Austro-Hungarian heir Franz Ferdinand. When it comes to cultural events, National Geographic recommends the Sarajevo War Theatre SARTR, stating that in this theatre, "entertainment is not lacking" regardless of the fact that most performances are held in Bosnian.
Special attention is paid to the traditional gastronomic offer, and recommendations for relaxation with a cup of coffee or tea and nightlife are also included.
