Bey's Mosque in Sarajevo is soon to get new carpets, and the old ones, some over 60 years old, will be conserved and exhibited in a special Museum „Gazi Husrev-beg“, which is to be formed soon. This was confirmed for the BH news agency Patria by Dženan Kaljanac, secretary of the Gazi Husrev-beg Vakuf in Sarajevo.
Carpets were status symbols of Bosnian homes and their decorative element, but with the arrival of Gazi Husrev-beg in BiH and Sarajevo, they have also become an indispensable element of furnishing and decorating mosques. Carpets in Bey's Mosque are most often gifts from foreign dignitaries, and many of them are over six decades old.
- The time has come to replace the carpets in Gazi Husrev-beg's Mosque - Kaljanac told Patria.
- On this occasion, the Gazi Husrev-beg Vakuf will present the plan for replacing the carpets in this mosque on December 23rd in the hall of the Gazi Husrev-beg Library in Sarajevo, starting at 12:30 PM.
Prof. Dr. Ibrahim Krzović, Prof. Dr. Aida Abadžić-Hodžić, Arch. Eng. Husejn Dropić, archaeologist and art historian Parviz Mohammadi, and Nedžad Žutić will speak about the realization of this very responsible and historic act, writes Patria.
