Ice on Sarajevo streets, numerous bus stops and pedestrian paths still uncleared

(Patria) - Although an intensive snow-clearing operation began last week, apart from the narrower core of Sarajevo from where snow was removed and dumped into the Miljacka River, most of Sarajevo remains uncleared, and sidewalks, pedestrian paths, and bus stops are covered in ice.

While KJKP Rad claims to be carrying out snow-clearing activities and gritting pedestrian areas and roadways, the reality is that hundreds of emergency and hospital interventions have been recorded due to the ice.

In recent days, citizens have also posted photos of accumulated garbage on social media in the first days of 2026. KJKP Rad confirmed they are experiencing difficulties, but that waste is being collected according to plan.

While officials look to the sky and await weather forecasts and positive temperatures, citizens are left to fend for themselves. Some are even using hiking poles to walk around Sarajevo, and in addition to the ice underfoot, danger also threatens from rooftops.

KJKP Rad no longer provides data on the number of vehicles or personnel in the field, but it is enough to drive through the city and see if there are workers with shovels or machinery.
