(Patria) - Damir Arnaut, a Member of the House of Representatives, asked the Office of the High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (OHR). Article 166 of the Rules of Procedure allows state parliamentarians to ask the High Representative parliamentary questions.
"Existing laws on conflict of interest prescribe sanctions, but these laws are not applied because the state-level commission has not been functioning for a long time, the Federation of BiH level has never even been formed, and the RS level is overwhelmingly inactive. At the same time, the OHR received support last week from several UN Security Council members to use its Bonn Powers.
In addition to sanctioning warmongering moves, using the Bonn Powers to sanction officials in conflict of interest, including those who mock the inapplicability of existing laws, would significantly advance the fight against corruption and strengthen the rule of law in Bosnia and Herzegovina," Arnaut said.
