Remediation of a landslide is underway, which will include the construction of a new staircase in Pruščak Street connecting Tina Ujevića and Mehmeda Spahe streets. This very significant city project is financed by the Centar Municipality with nearly 800,000 KM, while the Institute for Construction of Sarajevo Canton is responsible for implementation and supervision, reports the Patria news agency.
In the course of works so far, which began in March 2015, the entire old, severely damaged staircase has been removed, and approximately 20 meters of pipes for sewage and stormwater drainage have been replaced. To provide residents of surrounding buildings with access to their residential units, a temporary access path has been arranged.
-The biggest problem during the implementation of this project is the underground installations that are not recorded in the cadastre and are in very poor condition, which slows down our work. As planned by the landslide remediation project in Pruščak Street, we will replace the entire underground utility infrastructure, and we have already notified 'BH Telecom' and the utility company 'Vodovod i kanalizacija' that they need to install new systems.
After the completion of work on the underground utility infrastructure, construction of a new reinforced concrete staircase will follow, on which stone treads will be placed, as well as rest areas paved with granite cobblestones. It is also planned to install new street lighting along the staircase– said Fuad Babić, coordinator for landslides from the Institute for Construction of Sarajevo Canton.
The new staircase will be equipped with new handrails, cast iron benches, and specially designed waste bins. The architectural studio 'Firma' took into account the ambient whole of the staircase, which is located in the immediate vicinity of the iconic gathering place 'Sloga' and the Chess Club 'Bosna', during the development of the conceptual design.
According to this project, each rest area will be thematically linked to the most famous musical performers or groups that marked the golden period of 'Sloga', meaning that on each bench at the rest area, a short biography of selected musicians will be placed, along with special audio devices through which passersby can listen to the most famous songs of these performers. It is also planned to place a table with chess pieces at the rest area near the Chess Club 'Bosna', where passersby could enjoy this ancient game.
The development of the conceptual design was also financed by the Centar Municipality with an amount of 7,000 KM. After conducting a procedure in accordance with the Law on Public Procurement, the Institute for Construction engaged the construction company 'Harysco' d.o.o. Sarajevo for the execution of works, announced the Centar Municipality.
