Salkić for NAP ahead of NSRs session: If the opposition supports SNSD, everything they have done so far was in vain, this is an abuse of veto

(Patria) - Ahead of today's extraordinary session of the National Assembly of Republika Srpska (NRS), where MPs will discuss the latest decision of the BiH Presidency member Željka Cvijanović to initiate the mechanism for the protection of vital entity interest, MP Ramiz Salkić (SDA) told the Patria agency that this is another politically motivated abuse of this mechanism, aimed at protecting individuals from facing the judicial institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

We remind you that Cvijanović used the entity veto to block the decision of the BiH Presidency that supports the engagement of international security forces, including EUFOR, in the context of the current political and security crisis in the country.

Salkić believes that this is a dangerous practice that jeopardizes the functioning of BiH institutions.

"This is another abuse of the mechanism for protecting the entity interest. Its purpose was not to be used to hide individuals or to obstruct justice. This is a dangerous practice and it undermines the foundations of the rule of law in BiH," Salkić stated.

He specifically warned the opposition parties in RS not to participate in what he called the political game of SNSD, which could have serious consequences.

"If the opposition now sides with SNSD and supports their conclusions, it would mean that everything they have done in the past period was in vain. I believe they should not support this kind of abuse of veto," he added.

Salkić points out that any support from the opposition could give weight to the conclusions of the BiH Presidency, which could also have international consequences.

"In that case, the conclusions could be a signal to EUFOR to get more actively involved in resolving the crisis. In a way, it could even help the opposition in their further fight against the regime which, unfortunately, is increasingly acting to the detriment of the Serb people and all other peoples in BiH," Salkić concluded.

The NRS session will be a key test for the political scene in RS, whether the opposition will remain consistent in its criticism of the authorities or agree to legitimize SNSD's moves under the guise of protecting entity interests."
