SARAJEVO, (Patria) - Ramiz Salkić, Vice-President of the BiH entity RS, today condemned the renewed threats directed at Emir ef. Nuhić, the imam from Bosanski Novi.
Nuhić received threatening messages via Facebook on March 17 and 18 this year, and received messages of the same content on Monday evening, from the same person.
In previous, as well as new messages, the imam received death threats, insults, and profanity.
"The repetition of threats and insults to efendija Nuhić by the same person shows that the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs and the competent prosecutor's office did not take the previously issued threats seriously and did not take adequate measures. It is obvious that attacks and threats against Bosniaks in this entity are still considered activities of disturbed individuals, and are not prosecuted with full seriousness and professionalism.
For us, every threat represents a direct danger, considering that heinous crimes and genocide were committed against our people in this entity. We believe, and this is shown by these and previous threats, as well as the fact that criminals have not been punished, and that convicted criminals are glorified by the authorities, that recidivism of crimes and criminals is present and very possible in today's society in this entity. For the umpteenth time, I call for professionalism from the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs and the prosecutor's office, as well as an unbiased and non-nationalistic approach towards citizens in such cases. The fact that information about the prosecution of perpetrators of attacks on Bosniaks and the imposed sentences and verdicts is not publicly disclosed contributes to the growing distrust in the RS Ministry of Internal Affairs, prosecutor's offices, and courts in this entity," stated the message from the Vice-President of RS, Ramiz Salkić.
It is added that "an attack on imams, who work diligently in places of return, is an attack on the Islamic Community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Bosniak people, but also on the fundamental values of the civilized world."
I call on the academic community, the Serbian Orthodox Church, government and opposition representatives, non-governmental organizations, and intellectuals in the RS entity to clearly condemn the increasingly frequent attacks on Bosniaks and the property and members of the Islamic Community from Trebinje, through Zvornik, to Bosanski Novi. Condemnation, sanctioning, and distancing from the perpetrators is a civilizational step forward, and a commitment to building a society in which all citizens will enjoy equal rights, and perpetrators will receive just punishment," Salkić conveyed.
