Salkić on the Situation in RS: Everything Reminds Us of '92, the Rule of Law is the Greatest Guarantee of Peace and Stability

(Patria) - Every turbulence occurring in the entity of RS is linked to the security issue of the people, said today Ramiz Salkić, a deputy in the National Assembly of RS, who attended the session of the SDA Presidency.

"Bosniaks who have returned, who survived the genocide, surviving victims, their descendants, if you live in an environment where war criminals are glorified, if you live in an environment of morality and have such a separatist policy, you always think of the worst.

Conducting a referendum for which there is no agreement, neither on the question nor the date nor the role of that referendum, takes us back to some '92. It evokes ugly memories, ugly recollections, so certainly this issue is burdensome," Salkić emphasized.

He said he appeals to everyone to work on calming the situation and lowering tensions.

"Respecting the Constitution, respecting the law, the rule of law must function, and that is the greatest guarantee of peace and stability," Salkić emphasized.

The National Assembly of RS adopted on August 22 the Decision on calling a republic referendum, by which the referendum is called on the entire territory of the Republika Srpska.

The referendum question on which the citizens of Republika Srpska will declare themselves reads: "Do you accept the decisions of the unelected foreigner Christian Schmidt and the rulings of the unconstitutional Court of BiH issued against the President of Republika Srpska, as well as the decision of the CEC on the revocation of the mandate of the President of Republika Srpska Milorad Dodik?"

The date for holding the referendum is set for October 25, 2025, and the Government of Republika Srpska will be tasked with securing the financial resources and technical support necessary for conducting this referendum.

A Conclusion regarding the Decision on calling a republic referendum was also adopted, by which the National Assembly of Republika Srpska tasks the Commission for Elections and Appointments to prepare a proposal for a Decision on appointing the Referendum Commission after the Law on Amendments to the Law on Referendum and Citizens' Initiative enters into force.
