(Patria) - Representatives of Bosniaks in the RS entity sent a letter to the UN Security Council and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres.
In the letter, they stated that 30 years after Dayton, Bosniaks face structural inequality in language, education, employment, and public life.
The signatories of the letter are the Vice-President of the RS Ćamil Duraković, BiH Parliamentarian Edin Ramić, MPs in the National Assembly of the RS Ramiz Salkić, Amir Hurtić, and Mirsad Duratović, as well as delegates in the Council of Peoples of the RS Armin Hamzić, Smail Mešić, Alija Tabaković, Adil Osmanović, and Dževad Mahmutović.
They called on the UN Security Council to ask the High Representative Christian Schmidt to act within his mandate and rectify the discrimination occurring in the BiH entity of RS.
Ramiz Salkić, an MP in the National Assembly of the RS, told Hayat that it is important that this initiative took place and that the international community is informed about what the authorities of the RS entity are doing.
- The Constitution of the RS entity stipulates that Bosniaks are a constituent people, while on the other hand, we have authorities that deny this: denial of the Bosnian language, teaching of the Bosnian language, employment in accordance with the Constitution, violation of basic human rights, but also what Bosniaks experience every day – humiliation and glorification of war criminals – Salkić points out.
According to him, these are all processes that have been happening in recent years, and it is necessary for the international community to be informed at a high level.
- The authorities in RS are not for building a normal society but are committed to realizing wartime goals in peacetime – Salkić warns.
He also commented on the requests for war criminal Ratko Mladić to be released for treatment in Serbia.
- The behavior of Serbia, which shows that it is following the policies that committed and did not prevent genocide, is unacceptable. This would encourage extremists, lead to an eruption of nationalism, and that decision should not be positive – Salkić concluded.
