Safet Sušić will not give up on legendary players

 

On Sunday, the qualifying groups for the 2016 European Football Championship were drawn. Bosnia and Herzegovina is in a group with Cyprus, Wales, Andorra, Israel, and Belgium. Former player and coach of our national football team, Vlatko Glavaš, revealed in an interview with the Patria news agency that Belgium is the favorite, but that BiH has great chances to qualify for the EC.

- The drawn group for the 2016 European Championship qualifiers is not too easy, but it is not impossible either. If we prepare like we did for the World Cup, then we should qualify for the EC. We have to position ourselves as favorites – Glavaš states.

Given that some players have already reached a certain age, and new younger players have emerged, the question arises whether they will play in the qualifiers for the 2016 EC after the World Cup in Brazil.

- I don't want to make a puzzle about who will play and who won't. I don't see a reason to divide players into older and younger ones. I know that Safet Sušić (coach of the BiH national football team, op.a.) will not give up on the legends. We have new successful players, but his experience will put everything in order. I wish that Zvjezdan Misimović and Emir Spahić and Elvir Rahimić play for as long as possible, but I think Rahimić will retire after the World Cup – Glavaš believes.

According to Glavaš, qualifying for the World Cup was a step forward.

- I am proud of these guys. I did not have the honor of going to the World Cup with BiH, and now I have lived to see it. Realistically, we have a good team, but the World Cup is something completely different, a new competition format. I think this atmosphere will continue after the World Cup, and then we can face the EC qualifiers more calmly and prepared. We have a strong national team, and it seems to me, they are the only ones who can bring a smile back to our citizens – Glavaš concluded.
