US withdraws from peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia

(Patria) - The United States will no longer mediate in peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia after Vladimir Putin refused to agree to a ceasefire, the US State Department announced.

“We are changing the methodology of our contribution to the negotiations,” Washington said, adding that the United States will no longer “fly around the world to every announced meeting.”

This decision comes shortly after the US signed a new minerals agreement with Ukraine under more favorable terms than previously expected. At the same time, media reports that Donald Trump has approved the first delivery of weapons to Kyiv during his administration, the Telegraph reports.

The State Department said that Kyiv and Moscow must now present “concrete” proposals to end the war and that the two sides should meet directly to resolve the conflict.
