Ružnić wrote to the BiH Council of Ministers and Božinović: Closure of Hadžin Potok has negative effects

(Patria) - Prime Minister of Una-Sana Canton Mustafa Ružnić (NES) sent a letter to the BiH Council of Ministers and the Minister of Interior of Croatia Davor Božinović regarding the closure of the border crossing Hadžin Potok – Bogovolja for international passenger traffic.

"I am addressing you regarding the latest information we have received through the media, which relates to the closure of the permanent border crossing Hadžin Potok – Bogovolja for international passenger traffic. Since the institutions of Una-Sana Canton were not involved in the decision to close the said border crossing, and aware of the fact that the holiday season is approaching and an increased number of arrivals of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina who live and work in European Union countries is expected, the procedure and the proposal of the Decision of the Mixed Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of the Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia on Border Crossings to abolish the permanent border crossing for international passenger traffic Hadžin Potok - Bogovolja are unclear.

Likewise, the authorities and citizens of Una-Sana Canton are particularly interested in the criteria on which the work of the Mixed Commission for Monitoring the Implementation of the Agreement between Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Republic of Croatia on Border Crossings was based, given that border crossings are being opened for international passenger traffic: Duži-Imotica, Čitluk – Jovića Most, Drinovci – Sebišna, while the border crossing Hadžin Potok – Bogovolja is being abolished.

In accordance with the above, we request that you use your authority to become involved in the activities, consider the request, and urgently initiate the procedure for adopting a Decision approving international passenger traffic across the border crossing Hadžin Potok – Bogovolja, which would also prevent the negative economic effect that can be expected from the creation of large crowds at the border crossings Izačić and Maljevac, which is certainly in the common interest of all of us, and especially the citizens of Una-Sana Canton," Ružnić stated in the letter.
