(Patria) - Russian forces carried out a one-hour drone attack on Kharkiv, Ukraine's second-largest city, last night, causing numerous fires, but no casualties in the second such attack of the day, the regional governor said, Reuters reported.

"In the span of just one hour, the enemy deployed seventeen (Iranian) Shahed drones," Oleh Syniehubov wrote on Telegram.

"Most of the attacks were in the Kyyiv district. Local fires broke out. Fortunately, there were no casualties."

The same district was attacked earlier in the day, and officials reported that five people were injured.

Kharkiv withstood Russian attacks in the early weeks of Moscow's invasion in February 2022, but did not fall into Russian hands. Since then, it has been a regular target of air raids, often with casualties. The city has been hit by a series of drone strikes in recent days.

Syniehubov also reported a drone attack on the city of Derhachi, northwest of Kharkiv, which injured one person. The attack also caused a fire in Cherkaska Lozova, also outside Kharkiv.
