(Patria) - Trilateral talks between Russia, Ukraine, and the United States on resolving the war in Ukraine are expected to continue in Abu Dhabi on February 1, the Russian news agency Interfax reported yesterday, citing the Kremlin.
The first round of trilateral talks on ending the war, which is nearing its fourth anniversary, was held at the same location last weekend.
Regarding a potential future meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, Kremlin foreign policy advisor Yuri Ushakov said yesterday that it must be well-prepared and results-oriented.
Ushakov stated on state television that Moscow has never ruled out such a meeting and that Zelensky can come to Moscow if he is ready for such a meeting, where his personal safety will be guaranteed.
This is not the first time Russia has put forward the idea of a meeting between the two leaders in Moscow. Zelensky rejected such a proposal last year, offering that Putin come to Kyiv instead.
An unnamed US official told Axios on Saturday that Zelensky and Putin are "very close" to agreeing to a meeting, following peace talks in Abu Dhabi mediated by Washington last week.
