Bosnia and Herzegovina handball players seek first win against Belarus in Minsk

MINSK, (Patria) - The national handball team of Bosnia and Herzegovina opens a new cycle of qualifications for the European Championship, to be held in 2020 in Norway, Sweden and Austria, tonight in Minsk against host Belarus.

This will be the sixth encounter between our players and the Belarusians, which is an ideal opportunity to break a bad tradition. In the previous five matches, our handball players have never managed to achieve a victory – they have recorded two draws and three losses.

- Two points from the first two matches, and of course with wins against Finland, against whom we must justify the favorite role, and we would be at the European Championship. We will try to achieve a good result here in Minsk. We will do everything to achieve it. We are physically on par. However, they have continuity in playing at major competitions. They are ranked higher than us, but that doesn't have to mean anything. We have 60 minutes of the match, and then we will see – said the coach of our national team, Bilal Šuman, before the match.

24 national teams will participate in the European Championship for the first time. 32 national teams divided into eight groups participate in the qualifications. The top two teams from each group, as well as the four best third-placed teams, will qualify for the European Championship.

Besides Belarus, the Czech Republic and Finland are also in our qualifying group, and in three days we will host the Czech Republic in Tuzla.

The match will be played at 5 PM with a live broadcast on BHT1.
