Handball player of RK „Sloboda Solana“ Alen Ramić refused to undergo doping control after the league match between RK „Sloboda Solana“ and RK „Vogošća“, played on November 14 in Tuzla, reports the Patria News Agency.
The handball player has thereby committed a violation of Article 2.3 of the World Anti-Doping Code - refusal or failure to provide a sample without compelling justification, for which a two-year ban from competition is prescribed.
So far, two athletes have already been punished for refusing doping control: kickboxer Asim Selimović and boxer Stevo Zolak. The case of Alen Ramić is the second anti-doping rule violation in handball this year, and the 12th recorded by the Anti-Doping Control Agency of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The decision on the suspension and penalty for Alen Ramić will be made by the Handball Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
The Anti-Doping Control Agency will continue to educate all athletes about their rights and obligations during the doping control procedure, in order to completely eliminate such cases of refusal of doping control. It will also continue its uncompromising fight against doping in sport in order to protect the health of athletes, prevent cheating in sport, and fulfill the obligations of Bosnia and Herzegovina under international conventions and the World Anti-Doping Code.
