Miners from Zenica in front of the FBiH Government: They demand salaries, pensions, and dignity

(Patria) - Zenica miners have scheduled protests for today at 11 AM in front of the FBiH Government building in Sarajevo.

In the announcement of the protests, they stated that they will remain in front of the FBiH Government until their demands are met. More than 500 miners are expected to come to Sarajevo.

A few days ago, Zenica miners gathered in front of the management of the Brown Coal Mine in Zenica, which was only the first step towards organizing a strike/protest in front of the FBiH Government building, and even then they demanded the payment of salaries and the retirement of miners who had met all the conditions for retirement last year.

They emphasize that, above all, they demand respect for the Collective Agreement, payment of salaries to workers for May and June, and fulfillment of obligations towards workers who have met the conditions for retirement during 2024.

They also believe that the current attitude of the authorities towards mines in the Federation is irresponsible, inhumane, and humiliating for people who have contributed to the country's energy system with their work for decades.

RMU Zenica is in the process of closure, but still without concrete steps regarding the closure of shafts, payment of severance pay to workers, and retirement.
