Rubio: United States could continue operation against Iran if negotiations fail

(Patria) - The US administration does not rule out the possibility of continuing an operation against Iran if goals are not achieved through talks with Tehran, said US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

"The President (of the USA, Donald Trump) wants to ensure that Iran never possesses nuclear weapons. He would rather resolve this through negotiation and diplomacy, and we will exhaust every opportunity to do so," he said in an interview with the India Today television channel, TASS reported.

When asked if Washington plans to continue the operation against Iran, he said: "Ultimately, that option exists for the President if this does not succeed."

"This is not our preference. Our first choice is to do this through a negotiated agreement, and we are working on that," he said.
